Lauren and Kas are perfect for each other and each other's perfect foil. It was so entertaining to see them bait each other, it was like watching a well-played tennis match.
The Princes of Anfall is an absolutely delightful read. With elements of action, adventure, magic, love, romance and a sprinkling of sex, I consider The Princes of Anfall a perfect story. Ms. MacFarland is certainly a rising star in the romance genre and she is an automatic buy author for me. I look forward, very anxiously, to more from her in the future. 5 Hearts from The Romance Studio!
The Princes of Anfall blends parallel worlds and a hero's journey with very engaging characters. I was completely caught up in the story to the very end, and wanted to read more! The story unfolds as the Princes, their companions and Lauren travel to rescue her brother Tim. The sexual tension between Kas and Lauren is immediate and their attraction grows stronger with each passing day. The secondary characters were interesting and there are several in addition to Prince Senn that I would like to see have their own stories. We get to see Senn's playful side as he befriends her, tutors her magic gifts and helps her to understand the intrigues and emotions that swirl through the politic! s of the royal family. He's also a shape shifter. When Lauren first mistakes him for a pet it's too funny. The light touches of humor throughout the story compliment and balance the darker themes of star-crossed lovers and an evil wizard. The Princes of Anfall is a sexy treat for everyone who loves a great fantasy adventure like the Lord of the Rings but with a little more satisfying love story added in to spice up the mix!

Excerpt: Lauren made a break for it, darting into the woods and cursing as her long skirt tangled around her legs. She glanced over her shoulder-he had followed her into the dense cover. Brilliant, how did you think you'd outrun a warrior on a horse? He closed to within yards. It was hopeless. Lauren turned to face her pursuer.
He was magnificent, the most exquisite man she had ever seen. Piercing blue eyes surveyed her intently. Dark brows contrasted with pale long blonde hair. He had high cheekbones, a strong jaw line, and a very slight depression in his chin. His ears-they were odd, ever so slightly pointed at the top. She took in the rest of him-tall and muscular, with simple clothes of soft, green suede stretched over strong legs and broad shoulders and arms. A quiver of arrows and a long bow hung on his back, a jeweled scabbard on his hip. He rode a magnificent white stallion.
Lauren noticed he wore the symbol of the House of Anfall on his shirt and on the sapphire medallion that hung on his chest. That might explain things. The royals were famed for their obsession with her world, especially its women. Well, she had expected that trouble might find her sooner or later. She had crossed to this land nearly a year ago and had managed to keep a low profile, surveying the countryside in search of her brother. Lauren had avoided the troubled northern lands, where it was said the royals battled a terrible army of evil adepts. She now feared all her toil had been in vain. She hadn't found her brother, she had no idea how to get back to New York, or anywhere else on her planet, for that matter, and it looked as if this warrior had plans for her. She was at his mercy, unless she could channel to get herself out of this. Lauren hadn't used her gifts in the Land, trying to keep a low profile. It might be time. Her pursuer frowned, a deep furrow between his dark brows.
"All right, mister. What do you want?" she demanded, stomping her foot in a childish fashion. First surprise, then amusement crossed his face.
"Come over here, girl," he ordered firmly. Lauren thought his accent was unlike any she had heard in the Land; perhaps at home she would him Australian. His dark, thick velvet voice blanketed her into speechlessness.
She was far lovelier up close than he had expected-tall and voluptuous, with a mass of chestnut curls framing a classically beautiful face. He instantly reminded himself that this girl wasn't going to be his. He had seen her intelligent deep green eyes flash in a temper-but they were captivating. The color of emeralds, he thought. Tinted red lips accentuated her pale skin. She wore a very plain sleeveless dress that skimmed her sandals.
Lauren forced herself to laugh with false bravado as she folded her arms across her chest. "Like hell I'll come over there," she said, closing her eyes and taking in a deep breath. She gathered her energy and stretched her hand towards him. Her cheeks flushed from her efforts, perspiration beading on her upper lip. "Ai nai alanatharin!" Light poured from her hand in a blue stream.
"Very pretty," he laughed. He grabbed the energy and formed it into a glowing green ball, tossing it into the air over her head. The ball exploded into a rainbow of twinkling lights that gently fell to earth around her.
"Oh. Well, I can do that. Anyone can do that."
"Oh really?" he chuckled. He almost felt sorry for her, she looked so disappointed. "Perhaps where you come from everyone can do that. But not around here, sister."
"I'm not your sister."
"No, not yet." He held her gaze and waited patiently for her next move. She was terrified and completely at a loss.
"All right, you've made your point Sir Elf. Now tell me what you want? Why have you been after me for days?"
She surprised him-he tracked superbly. She shouldn't have felt him following her. And he certainly didn't like the Elf remark. Elves were a small, delicate folk in the southern forests. It wasn't the worst insult, but for a warrior, it came pretty close.
"I could feel you the whole time, and let me tell you buddy, that's a rotten thing to do to a woman traveling alone. Scaring me like that-I've hardly slept at all in days. Have things gotten that tough for you Anfallen that you have to stalk single women?" Lauren tried desperately to hide her terror and sound angry instead. She had to ignore his extraordinary good looks, she reminded herself. Handsome men could be dangerous too, and he might even be projecting this image to lure her into submission.
"I'm not sure you're right for my brother. He likes his women a bit sweeter, shall we say? But you do have gifts." He rubbed his chin, regarding Lauren as if she were a hunk of meat hanging in a butcher's shop.
"You're hunting for women for your brother? What the hell's wrong with him?"
"We'll also have to work on that mouth of yours."
"We won't be working on anything. Listen, buddy, I'm just trying to find my brother and go home. It's been a long year, and I'm tired. My feet are killing me. I'm sick to death of this endless heat and working my hands to the bone to get a meal and a lousy cot for the night. And you chasing after me so I couldn't even stop to…"
"Tim. I know your brother."
Lauren thought the heat had finally gotten to her. What had he said?
"You know Tim? Do you know where he is?" she could barely get the words out. "I've been looking for him everywhere, for a year, back and forth across this godforsaken place... " Lauren spoke quickly, near hysterics. "I thought twice I'd caught up with him, only then... Oh, where is he, please, I need to know!"
He saw her tear up. Oh no, she's about to have a crying fit, he thought. "Relax." He held up his hand in command. That didn't seem to help. "Oh, bloody hell, don't cry!" he ordered more forcefully.
He dismounted and stood close to Lauren, making her intensely award of his scent, his warmth, his strength…what was that scent? Her thoughts were beginning to wander. With one finger, he lifted her chin to lock eyes with her.
"Relax, breathe deeply," he whispered. His voice was like a light warm breeze, caressing all of her. "Relax," he repeated. She felt herself drifting, being pulled into his deep blue eyes, wrapped in his warmth, floating across a calm sea, held in his arms...
She could barely whisper her plea. "He's all I have."
This woman didn't move him in the least. In fact, her histrionics were very annoying, and he would be sure to make Luke understand exactly what she was like. Well, he would calm her down, get her to Luke as quickly as possible, and humor her until then. She'd be Luke's problem. Only…
Something pulled at him, a charmed finger beckoning him to look further at the girl. He shook off the feeling. His gifts sometimes played tricks on him late at night.
"All right Lauren. We'll find your brother."
"You know my name."
"Lauren Emory of New York City in the Great Lands. Tim Emory's sister. I am Casmarin, or Cas."
He blurred her mind so, she must have misunderstood. The Prince Adept of Anfall-he couldn't be. The King's brother, the greatest wizard in the world. Nearly asleep, she struggled to take in what he told her.
He lifted her onto his horse and turned north, sighing. "Congratulations, Lauren, you're engaged to the King."
